So, the polls are in and it's a lock: 2020 is a wreck. There are so many uncertainties, stressors, and just awful things happening in our world. I would say negativity is at an all-time high (and it is) but some of it is just realism at this point. That said, what do you do if there are things in life, even in 2020, that are making you genuinely happy? And I don't just mean the little, simple pleasures, although hang on to those wherever you can find them. No, I mean deep-down, life-altering, amazing happiness. Even now. Even in the face of the world that we're in. I suppose it goes back to … [Read more...] about Being Happy in 2020
If you're a baseball fan, you probably know Gabriella Kreuz for her peppy, fun crowd commentary during Indians home games. But what impresses me even more is Gabriella's work off the field with her own non-profit: Love Doesn't Shove. Gabriella's inspiration for this organization came out of her own personal experience in an abusive relationship in college. Gabriella found the help she needed from the Domestic Violence and Child Advocacy Center. And while she initially began fundraising for that organization, she was driven to do more. Love Doesn't Shove began in 2014 and has grown into … [Read more...] about Love Doesn’t Shove
When I shifted the blog from Why CLE?, part of my goal was to not just recap my weekend activities, but to be able to really highlight special places and people. The Cleveland Museum of Art is a world-class, free art museum that houses some incredible works from Monet to van Gogh to Warhol... ...and everything from paintings to sculptures to furniture to medieval armor to a snowman. You can also enjoy current special exhibitions like … [Read more...] about The Cleveland Museum of Art

As I'm sure you've heard, the Cleveland Indians are beginning conversations about changing the name of the team. And everyone on Twitter, including the President (yes, of the United States) seems to have an opinion on it. Let me start by saying, I love Cleveland baseball. When I was in high school, I worked at Jacob's Field in the Team Shop. This was during the height of the mid-to-late-90's winning seasons and the sell-out streak. It was a glorious time to be a baseball fan in Cleveland. My favorite mid-90's Cleveland baseball memory is my mom making up some reason to get me out of … [Read more...] about Now Batting for the Cleveland …?
If you've been around these parts really at all, you know I'm a pretty committed yogi. A little over 8 years ago, I took my first class, mostly at the urging of Alicia. It was definitely not love at first down-dog, but I was at least willing to give it a try again. I've never been very athletic or coordinated and, up until yoga, had never really stuck with any one particular way of working out. But even in the beginning, something kept drawing me back to yoga. One of the things that I've always loved was the combination of physical activity with mental rest that yoga offers. I could find a … [Read more...] about Yoga: A Community Where We Can Be Vulnerable
