I’m back working downtown, which means I’m on the prowl for great places to grab lunch or have a drink and dinner after work. The latest restaurant to open in downtown Cleveland is Betts Restaurant at the Kimpton Schofield Hotel. It’s pretty exciting to see new places opening up in this time and even more so when it’s a place as bright and fun and tasty as Betts.
The restaurant is named after Elizabeth Schofield, the wife of the hotel’s namesake. She was known as Betts to her friend and was known for being a gracious, warm, inclusive host.
Betts Restaurant maintains that tradition of hospitality, with modern sensibilities.
The menu is a nice blend of healthy options and, well, cheese. We shared the warm chorizo and boursin dip to start, which was a crock of delicious cheesy goodness.
I had the salmon served with a delicious Thai peanut sauce on top of a vegetable medley.
The menu also includes a “manger à trois,” which lets you pick three side dishes for your meal (let’s be honest, all restaurants should offer that option) and market plate, which includes a simply-prepared protein and two sides.
Betts is open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner from 8am-9pm (until 10pm on Friday and Saturday.) Betts also offers brunch on both Saturday and Sunday from 8am-4pm. And you can stop by the Grab-and-Go area near the host stand for coffee, tea, juice, food, and cocktails.
It’s great to see people coming back downtown and Betts is designed to not only be delicious and pretty, but it because it was designed in the time of Covid, the barriers and social distancing measures were literally built right in. You can feel safe and welcomed and get a great meal at Betts.
***Disclosure: I was invited to attend the complimentary soft opening of Betts Restaurant with a guest. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.***
