As I’m adjusting to being back in an office five days a week, one thing I notice has been seriously reduced is my motivation to cook when I get home from work. And as much as I love supporting local restaurants doing take-out, sometimes you just want a home cooked meal.
Well, enter CookinGenie, which allows you to enjoy a delicious meal cooked in your home without the work of actually, well, cooking.
CookinGenie’s founder Sabah and I “met” on one of my girl Annie’s Signature Sweets virtual baking class. I love seeing local small business owners support each other, so when Sabah reached out to ask if I’d like to try CookinGenie, I immediately said yes.
Sabah told me this concept is actually quite common in her native India.
The way CookinGenie works is that you select a type of food (or a “genie” if you know one of their chefs.) There are options from Italian to Thai to Peruvian to American. You select your portion size (4 or 8 people), your day and time, and that’s it.
Sabah showed up to my door with everything she needed to prepare dinner, save the cookware. She prepared dinner and cleaned up and we got to enjoy a fantastic homecooked meal.
I chose the chicken curry in yogurt, basmati rice, and almond flour cake, all of which were flavorful and delicious (plus, I had leftovers!)
Oh, I even checked with her for a wine recommendation and got a spot-on pairing!
Sabah wore a mask while she was here and texted the day of our dinner to confirm that she wasn’t experiencing any Covid symptoms and to check that we weren’t either. I felt completely comfortable and safe!
CookinGenie is a great way to bridge the gap between not having time to cook, but wanting a homecooked meal.
Plus, you’re supporting a local small business that just got up and running this March (what a time to launch!) CookinGenie is authentically delicious and you can learn more about them here and follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
***Disclosure: I was asked to help promote CookinGenie. In exchange, I received a $75 gift card for the meal of my choice. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.***
